Carson City is easily the most popular mint city to collect. They hold good value due to their low mintages, as well as having a connection to the wild west. The Carson City mint first started minting coins in 1870 and was created to facilitate minting coins from silver mined from the legendary Comstock Lode.
Mint marks are located appear underneath the tail feathers on the coin's reverse between the D and O of the word Dollar. Other additional city mint marks would include P for Philadelphia, D for Denver, O for New Orleans and S for San Francisco.
